A change of pace from my usual posts about crafts. It was a very bittersweet moment last night when the Cubs won the pennant. My dad was the biggest Cubs fan. We grew up watching the Cubs and I was a huge fan when I was in high school. I remember my Dad taking my brother and I to a Cubs game one year and we were looking for a place to park. An 80 year old lady was standing in the street offering her garage for a fee. My dad took her up on it. We drove into the garage, she shut the door and I was scared to death, wondering if she would let us back in to get the car at the end of the game. The game was over and there she was, waiting for us. My dad wasn't worried at all. Last October my Dad was terribly ill and on a ventilator in the hospital. We would turn on the Cubs game for him to watch. We don't know if he even realized it was on but kept it on anyway. He passed away on November 2, 2015. This year watching the Cubs was difficult. A huge fan in my heart, it brought back memories of my dad and sadness that he was missing out on this moment that everyone was waiting for for all of these years. In my mind, this is how it played out last night. Harry, Ron, Ernie and all of the die hard Cub fans in heaven watched the game together. Harry sang at the 7th inning stretch. My dad dressed in his Cubs gear along with everyone else cheered and sang their heart out. They got front row seats to the game. This is what heaven is like for my dad. Let's pray he can continue to see them win the World Series. Let's go Cubbies!
